Virginia Macintosh Users Group

VMUG is a volunteer organization of Macintosh users that provides information, advice, and educational opportunities to other Mac users in the region. We are one of the many local Apple user groups found throughout the country. Our members are made up of experienced computer administrators as well as brand new Mac users.

History

Founded in 1989, VMUG started with a handful of Macintosh enthusiasts meeting to trade experiences and ideas. A formal user group was begun. As membership grew, additional structure was introduced with formal meetings containing presentations, educational programs, and special interest groups for beginners as well as experienced users. With a current membership of over 100, our group strives to maintain the small group feeling we started with, where members don’t become lost in the crowd.

Mission

Our goal is to provide our members with many different opportunities to make the best use of their Macintosh and Apple devices and products. Our tutorials, presentations, and news on new products, and services are all benefits enjoyed by VMUG members.

Meetings

Monthly meetings are held to present the latest hardware or software, provide how-to instruction, or discuss tips and techniques for using the Macintosh. Meetings are also a time to socialize and network with other Mac users. Meetings are currently held online via Zoom.

Meetings start with a short presentation of Mac basics for beginners, then proceed to an open Q&A session. After pizza is served, the main program proceeds with the featured presentation.
